A Cityscape Nook, Where the Window

and Bookcase Intertwine Revamping a

dull window into something

extraordinary. Initially, my idea was

to install trim around the

window.

 It seems most

builders in Texas, at least around

here, missed the memo and neglect

this very important detail. Adding trim can

completely

transform any space… I’m actually

glad they left it bare, it gave me the

ability to reinvent the space and turn it into a

Castle of my own!  One in which I’m sure I lived in a

 previous life!

I failed to account for the crown molding. Why? Because, honestly, I had no clue what I was doing with that yet. Look, I figured it’s my house, I had a few pictures that inspired what I was looking for.  I’d figure it out at some point.

And is, my vision taking shape… sort of… In my head I viualized 10-inches on either side of the window.  I soon realized that that wasn’t the imagine in my head. When I told my husband it was now too wide, I thought he was gonna kill me!  Well not really but if I tried to work with it I know I wouldn’t have been happy. We toned it down a notch. Turns out, I do know a thing or two.

I was on a mission to turn my

room into a true

book lover’s paradise. Step one…

Make this bookcase look like it was always

there. Goodbye windowsill, I

had a better plan anyways…

I’m a molding lover. If I could, I’d mold

everything in sight. But for now,

I’ll settle for molding my

house into a masterpiece, one corner

at a time! Here are some pictures

of  my progress. I had this

 grand vision. In the beginning

 it’s prety hard to tell!

I think you should always start

with a base and shape. In my head

that’s how it goes anyways.

This is where having some sort of

base for the crown molding

would have been helpful.  I

wasn’t crazy about the corbels

but was eager to start so I settled!

(Don’t do that, I’ll explain in a

bit)
